These Subscription and Billing Terms govern the paid features of The Defense Brief. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to these terms in addition to our Terms of Use.
The Defense Brief offers both free and paid tiers. Free accounts provide access to selected content and basic platform features. Paid subscriptions (such as the "DB+" tier) unlock additional features, including but not limited to personalized briefings, advanced analytics, market intelligence tools, and priority content delivery.
The specific features included in each tier may change over time. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant changes to subscribers, but we reserve the right to modify, add, or remove features from any tier at our discretion.
Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you select). By subscribing, you authorize The Defense Brief and our payment processor, Stripe, to charge your designated payment method at the beginning of each billing cycle.
Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. The renewal charge will be at the then-current subscription rate.
All payment processing is handled by Stripe. By providing your payment information, you agree to Stripe's terms of service. The Defense Brief does not directly store your full credit card number or bank account details on our servers.
You are responsible for ensuring that your payment information is current and accurate. If a payment fails, we may attempt to process the charge again or notify you to update your payment method. Continued payment failure may result in suspension of your subscription.
We may from time to time offer free trial periods for paid subscription tiers. Trial terms, duration, and eligibility will be communicated at the time the trial is offered. Unless you cancel before the trial period ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription and you will be charged at the applicable rate.
Trial offers are limited to one per user and may not be combined with other promotions. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue trial offers at any time.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at info@defensebrief.ca. Upon cancellation:
Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods. However, we may consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion — for example, if you were charged in error or experienced a significant service disruption.
To request a refund, contact us at info@defensebrief.ca within fourteen (14) days of the charge in question.
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing at any time. If we increase the price of your subscription, we will provide you with reasonable advance notice (at least thirty (30) days) before the new price takes effect. The updated price will apply at the start of your next billing cycle following the notice period.
If you do not agree with a price change, you may cancel your subscription before the new rate takes effect.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your subscription and access to paid features if:
In cases of termination for cause, you may not be entitled to a refund of fees already paid.
We strive to provide reliable and uninterrupted access to the Service, but we do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times. Scheduled maintenance, unplanned outages, third-party service disruptions, and other factors may affect availability. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from service interruptions.
All prices and charges are in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase.
Subscription fees may be subject to applicable taxes (such as GST, HST, or PST) depending on your jurisdiction. Any applicable taxes will be added to your subscription fee and displayed at checkout.
